Conversation Interest Groups

English conversation

This group has 2 new co-leaders, meets bimonthly. It is for those who speak English as a foreign language and want to practice language skills and socialize. Speakers at all levels and children are welcome. We plan to have a current events format one meeting, and the other meeting will have a variety of topics and activities.

Group co-leaders: Gloria Kellogg & Marianna Fallon

French language improvement

Twice a month, members with a good enough knowledge of French meet to read and discuss articles in French. The articles are sent to members who sign up so they can be prepared. Speaking French helps the participants improve their comprehension and grammar, as well as their spoken French. As our French teacher now lives in France our meetings are conducted via ZOOM.

Group co-leaders: Jeannine Peerless & Tishina Subrahmanyam

French conversation

We will meet the first Wednesday of the month. This group welcomes people who want to practice their French by discussing a given topic. This group is not a class. All skill levels are more than welcome.

German conversation

If you love to speak German and want to keep practicing, you are invited to join our fun group. New members are always welcome. Meetings are held weekly at various locations. Meetings are in the morning on Tuesday the first week of the month and on Wednesdays for the rest of the month at various locations. Please contact Alma for more information.

Spanish conversation group

This group welcomes non-native Spanish speakers as well as native speakers who wish to converse in Spanish. We choose a different theme for a lively discussion each month. Since we do not speak in English in this group, a fair degree of fluency in Spanish is desirable.

Group leader: Sheila Ramirez

Italian conversation

This group is for anyone interested in listening, speaking and improving Italian language. All skill levels are welcome, but beginner participants need to know basic grammar and speak and understand simple sentences. It’s a time to gather with other women to practice Italian and discuss various topics while having fun and without stress. We usually decide the theme of the discussion together.

Meetings are held every 4th Tuesday of the month from 2pm to 4pm in a coffee shop or restaurant or hosted by the group leader or one of the group members.

Group leader: Federica Abate
