Happy Trails (19 Jun 2026)

Happy Trails Group meets to hike nature trails across the Indy area on the 3rd Friday in ODD months. Participants need to be able to hike intermediate level trails - which means uneven terrain, moderate inclines and switchbacks - for approximately 1 hour. No dogs allowed.

What: Get outdoors, explore Indy’s nature trails, and enjoy lively conversation!

When: Friday, May 15 at 2-4pm - trail conditions & weather permitting

Where: Eagle Creek Park; please note there is a $6 entrance fee for Marion County residents and an $8 entrance fee for residents of other counties. Enter the park from 56th street or 71st street, park at “Lilly Lake South Lot.” We will hike portions of the red & blue trails, to the Ornithology Center and around the Bird Sanctuary. This hike will be on the more challenging end of the skill level spectrum with steeper inclines, stairs, and rough terrain.

Our sessions are filled with lively discussions based on selected readings from French magazines, books, and articles. We explore a variety of topics - from travel and history to current affairs, French culture, notable Francophone figures, and even the art of French cuisine. These engaging themes not only broaden your horizons but also help you sharpen your comprehension, grammar and spoken French. We meet virtually on Zoom on the 2^nd and 4^th Mondays of the month at 11:00 AM, making it easy to join from everywhere. Interested in joining? Italian Conversation

This group is for anyone interested in listening, speaking and improving Italian language. All skill levels are welcome, but beginner participants need to know basic grammar and speak and understand simple sentences.

What: It’s a time to gather with other women to practice Italian and discuss various topics while having fun and without stress. We usually decide the theme of the discussion together.

When: June 23 and August 25th at 2 - 4 pm. - No meeting in July

Where: In a coffeeshop, library, restaurant, or hosted by the group leader or one of the group members. The location will be announced in the "Weekly Update" email, on Friday of the week before the meeting.

July will take us back to IMA. Art lovers know the name Camille Pissarro, but did you know that in addition to inspiring Cezanne, Gaugin, and Seurat, he also collaborated artistically with his two sons? Curators at the IMA have brought together seven paintings in their collection to explore how this family of painters influenced each other. It is an inspiring story of intergenerational dialogue and support. Using conservation imaging and technical analyses, the curators have found important new insights. Join us for a guided tour of the exhibition with Sadie Arft, Curatorial Assistant, European Art & Works on Paper.

Hooray! Indiana Artisans has reopened, and we have rescheduled Pour Your (Acrylic) Heart Out for Tuesday, August 11. Join the IWI Discover Art group for a truly unique hands-on creative experience. Mixed media artist Dawn Michaelis will guide participants in creating their own small acrylic pour painting—perfect to take home and display.

Acrylic pouring is a captivating abstract art technique in which fluid acrylic paints are poured onto a surface to create dynamic, one-of-a-kind designs. Dawn incorporates this method as the foundation of her mixed media artwork, later enhancing pieces with plaster and resin to create dimensional elements such as tree branches, flowers, birds, and even ears of corn.

During this session, participants will focus on the acrylic pouring process and complete a make-and-take project. While time will not allow for additional dimensional details, each attendee will leave with their own unique piece of art—and a memorable creative experience

The Explore Group will be given a tour of the Koorsen Fire Museum in downtown Indianapolis. Learn how fire protection has evolved through generations. Step back into time when fires were fought with buckets and salt water grenades. Take in leather“smoke helmets” and an extensive collection of fire extinguishers dating back to 1789.

Located inside of Koorsen & Security’s Training Center, the Koorsen Fire Museum is the personal collection of former owner Randy Koorsen.

Guests are welcome, but please RSVP for them. Parking is available adjacent to the Museum.

If you have ever wondered what the differences are among them, please join us as Rabbi Brett Krichiver of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation discusses them. He writes, "Together we will explore the history and relevance of the major Jewish denominations including Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative and Orthodox, and leave plenty of time for Q&A!"

International Evening Gourmet Foodies (22 Aug 2026)

This dining group is unique to IWI for it involves an evening meal at a host's home where spouses and partners, significant others or single members may also attend. The group is ideally suited for those who find new cuisines, intriguing conversations and enjoying a homemade-themed meal, inviting. Dinners are on a set schedule (typically on a Saturday evening) every other month. The theme is designated by the Group Leader and coordinated with Volunteer Hosts. The cost of the meal is divided between the members of the group attending. This group can only continue to function by having many gracious volunteers.

What: It’s a time to gather with other women to practice Italian and discuss various topics while having fun and without stress. We usually decide the theme of the discussion together.
